De oriëntaalse dans is één van de oudste dansen ter wereld. Sommigen noemen deze dans buikdans of dans uit het Oosten. De oorsprong ervan is terug te vinden in het Oude Egypte, waar danseressen deze dans alleen beoefenden als ritueel tijdens spirituele feesten en in tempels. Het voornaamste doel toen was : offeren en eren. Misschien is het dat vandaag ook nog, maar dan in functie van het ‘zelf’.

Orientaalse dans is een dans voor elke vrouw die het beste uit zichzelf wil halen, zichzelf wil leren aanvaarden, het mooiste van zichzelf wil ontdekken om dit met veel trots en zelfrespect te tonen aan haar omgeving. Met deze dans werkt ze aan haar zelfvertrouwen en manifesteert haar diepste vrouw-zijn. In deze dans laat ze zien hoe mooi, liefdevol en sterk ze is. Als ze danst, zie je de vrouw die ze is, met haar diepste innerlijke kracht.
De sensuele bewegingen van buik, schouders en heupen, zorgen voor een sierlijk geheel. Elke beweging heeft haar doel en helpt mee aan het verwerken van innerlijke blokkades.

The oriental dance is one of the oldest dances in the world. Some call it bellydancing or Eastern dancing. Its origins can be found in old Egypt, where women only danced this dance as a ritual during spiritual festivities in the temple. Its purpose was offering and honouring. That is still the case, although more in function of the “self”.

Oriental dance is a dance for every woman who wants to get the best out of herself, who wants to learn to accept herself, to dicover the beauty of herself to show this with a lot of pride and selfrespect to her envitonment. With this dance she works towards more selfconfidence and manifests her deepest womanhood. In this dance she shows how beautiful, loving and strong she is. When she dances, you se the woman that she is, with her deepest inner power. The sensual movements of belly, shoulders and hips make for a gracious whole. Each movement has its purpose and helps to dissolve inner blockades.

Het grote voorbeeld van Nefertari Meri-En-Moet is de Egyptische choreograaf prof Hassan Khalil. Bij hem volgde ze gedurende 1 jaar een professionele teachers course. Tevens volgde ze opleidingen bij Rachel Brice, Wendy Buenaventura, Mahmoud Reda. Voor haar is de oriëntaalse dans een levensfilosofie, een uiting van haar vrouw-zijn en bovenal het balanceren van vrouwelijke en mannelijke energie. Elke beweging in de orientaalse dans heeft een betekenis en draagt bij aan : aarding, evolutie en ‘balance’.

Nefertari Meri-En-Moet’s example is the Egyptian choreographer professor Hassan Khalil. She followed a professional teacher’s course with him for over a year. She also did classes with Rachel Brice, Wendy Buenaventura and Mahmoud Reda. To Nefertari Meri-En Moet oriental dance is a philosophy of life, an expression of womanhood, and above all balancing between female and male energies. Each movement in the oriental dance has its meaning and adds to: grounding, evolution and balance.

Voeding is van levensbelang, daar zijn we het allemaal over eens. Wat maakt onze voeding lekker? Hoe kunnen we meer van onze voeding genieten? Wat is magie in de keuken? In hoeverre kunnen we onze voeding positief beïnvloeden door magie? En bovenal: hoe gaan we dat doen?

In het eerste deel van de workshop zal Elenor je meenemen in een rondetafelgesprek omtrent magie in de keuken, waarbij alle mogelijkheden aan bod komen. Jullie eigen inbreng is hierbij belangrijk! 
In het tweede deel van de workshop gaan we onze eigen magische “cake and wine” maken voor het afsluitritueel van deze namiddag, geheel in het ritme van het seizoen en de maan.

Our food is of vital interest, that we agree all upon. What is making our food tasty? How can we enjoy our food more? What is magic in the kitchen? How far can we influence our food positively through magic? And above all: how are we going to do that?

In the first part of the workshop, Elenor will take you on a round-table discussion about magic in the kitchen, in which all possibilities will get a change. Your own input is important in this!
In the second part of the workshop, we will make our own magical “cake and wine” for the closing ritual this afternoon, totally in the rythm of the season and the moon.

Na enkele jaren van solitair “dingen aanvoelen” en af en toe een boek lezen over hekserij of spirituele verhalen, las Elenor de aankondiging van PaGE2004. Dit was voor haar een startpunt van actieve beleving van hekserij, een start van de zoektocht naar haar pad. Op PaGE2004 zag ze oude bekenden terug, en voelde ze zich meteen thuis bij de eclectische vereniging die Arcadia toen al was. Datzelfde jaar begon ze met de opleiding in eclectische hekserij bij Arcadia.

Tijdens deze opleiding werkte ze samen met haar medecursisten in een opleidingscoven aan verschillende zaken en recent werd ze ingewijd als priesteres van de Moeder in Ursa Major, de moedercoven van Arcadia. Omdat haar binding met de linde in haar tuin (die mee afstamt van die van haar voormoeders) zeer groot werd en ze vaak werkt met Freya, kreeg ze “Tilia” als bijvoegsel.

Haar gezin neemt een belangrijke plaats in. Elenor is nu een jaartje thuis om voor haar dochtertje en haar man te zorgen, haar huis terug een beetje op orde te krijgen en haar opleiding als levensbegeleider af te maken.

Elenor’s kracht zit in de basics: haar keuken is heilig en rituelen vindt ze erg belangrijk om  levensovergangen of andere momenten te markeren. Thuis lekker eten maken voor je familie en vrienden doe je altijd met magie… vandaar haar workshop: breng een vleugje magie in je eigen keuken!

After a few years of “sensing things” and reading a book about witchcraft or spiritual stories now and then, Elenor read the announcement of PaGE2004. This was for her a starting point of active living with witchcraft, the start of the search for her way. On PaGE2004, she met old friends and felt immediately at home in the eclectic union that Arcadia already was back then. In the same year, she started the course eclectic witchcraft within Arcadia.

During this course, she worked together with her classmates in the learning coven on different things and recently, she was initiated as priestess of the Mother in Ursa Major, the mother coven of Arcadia. Because of her strong liaison with the lime tree in her garden (that is descended from the one of her mother and grandmother) and because she often works with Freya, she received “Tilia” as suffix.

Her family takes an important place. Elenor is on a sabbatical year now to take care for her little girl and her husband, getting her house back on its feet again and to finish her education as a life coach.

Elenor’s power is in the basics: her kitchen is holy to her and she thinks rituals are very important to mark life transitions or other moments. Making the best food for your family and friends is always done with magic… therefore her workshop: bring a little magic in your own kitchen!

De wereld is fel uit evenwicht, net als wijzelf, mensen. Alle dingen zijn met elkaar geconnecteerd. Dat is de eerste wet van de ecologie én van de magie. De Herfst Equinox, nu net een weekje geleden, is een kosmisch moment van evenwicht. Het is de perfecte tijd om dez themas’ te gaan exploreren.

Als magisch werkers met de intentie om een Aarde healing uit te voeren om onze wereld in evenwicht te brengen, is het noodzakelijk dat we eerst leren hoe wij onszelf moeten leren in evenwicht brengen. Francesca leidt ons doorheen een “pathworking”, een geleide visualisatie die ons toelaat onze innerlijke bron van rust, van genezing en van zelf-kennis te verkennen, die ons nieuwe bewustzijnsniveau’s kan leren kennen.

Francesca is een derdegraads wicca hogepriesteres. Ze werd opgeleid door de Gaia Group in New York en door Vivianne en Chris Crowley in de UK.  Het werkvan de Crowleys is welbekend in Europa, dat van de Gaia Group (GG) iets minder. De GG is een eclectische wicca traditie die verschillende technieken, praktijken en filosofieën mengt, van sjamanisme over de Kaballah tot Hindoeisme en Boedhisme. Francesca’s manier van lesgeven en schrijven is beïnvloed door haar katholieke jeugd en haar leraars - wicca, indiaans, boedhist.  Francesca stichtte de Tempel van Gaia, een dochtercoven van de GG, in 1995, in Colorado, USA. The world is wildly out of balance, as are we human beings.  All things are connected, as the first law of ecology and also of magic teach.  The Autumn Equinox, just past this week, is a cosmic moment of balance.  It is a perfect “tide” to explore these themes.

Therefore, as magical practitioners who may wish to perform Earth healing — in order to balance our world, we must first learn to balance ourselves.  Drawing from her initiatory training and her own spiritual practice, Francesca will lead us in a “pathworking”, a guided visualization, to explore inner sources of calm, of healing and of self-knowledge which can offer new realms of awareness.

Francesca is a Third Degree High Priestess of Wicca; she was trained in formal Wicca by the Gaia Group of NY, USA and by Vivianne and Chris Crowley of the UK.  While the Crowleys’ work and writings are well known in Europe, the Gaia Group (GG) is less so.  To put it in brief, the GG is an eclectic Wiccan tradition blending various practices and philosophies, from Shamanism to Qabalah, Hinduism and Buddhism.  Francesca’s teaching and writing has been influenced by her Franciscan Catholic upbringing, her Wiccan, American Indian, and Buddhist teachers, as well as her work with the Unitarian-Universalist religious movement in America.  Francesca formed the Temple of Gaia, a daughter coven of the GG, in 1995. Er zijn fundamentele basiswetten die je “Gaia magie” zou kunnen noemen en die door verschillende spirituele tradities over de hele wereld worden gedeeld. Een van de meest fundamentele daarvan is de zoektocht naar een manier om de kloof tussen de mens en de natuur te overbruggen om te kunnen communiceren, connecteren en relaties te kunnen opbouwen op een diepzinnige manier. Deze zoektocht - gebruik makend van meditatie, mindfulness, magisch werk en rituelen - kan ons en de realiteit rondom ons compleet veranderen, en invloed uitoefenen op de wereld zoals we die kennen. Een van de meest voor de hand liggende redenen voor deze soort van magie is healing - onszelf genezen en onze wereld genezen.  Maar dat is de kar voor het paard spannen: de eerste reden moet zijn het eenvoudige aarden, centeren, openen en dieper communiceren met alle leven.

De lessen van de 21ste eeuw zijn waarschijnlijk grotendeels dezelfde als die van de vorige eeuw … maar met een zekere hoogdringendheid. De inzet is hoog en er is weinig tijd. Tijdens deze workshop gaan we aan de slag met verscheidene onderwerpen en thema’s uit Francesca Howell’s 20-jarige ervaring met magische technieken en healing, zoals ze die ook aanhaalt in haar boek “Making Magic with Gaia: Practices to heal ourselves and our planet”.  We proberen verschillende technieken die we vervolgens zelf kunnen ge bruiken in ons eigen leven.

There are basic fundamental laws of what one might call “Gaia magic”, which are shared by many world spiritual traditions.  However, one of the most fundamental goals is to develop the ability to reach across the divide between humanity and nature to communicate, connect and establish relationships in a profound way.  This practice, using meditation, mindfulness, magical operations and ritual, can change us profoundly — as well as alter reality,  influencing the world as we know it. One of the goals of this sort of magic would generally be healing – healing of ourselves and our world.  However, that is putting the cart before the horse:   The first goal is simple grounding, centering, opening and deeper communication with all life.

The 21st century ’s lessons will be  much like the previous century’s… with a heightened urgency.  The stakes are high, the time is short.  We will play with various themes from Francesca Howell’s 20 years of teaching magical techniques and healing, as discussed in her book Making Magic with Gaia: Practices to heal ourselves and our planet.  We’ll experience various techniques that we can then use in our own lives.

In deze workshop geeft Fred Lamond ons uitleg over de theorie van de ‘Divine Struggle’ of ‘Goddelijke Strijd’. Helpt het ons om de huidige crisissen te begrijpen en kan van daaruit een positieve manier gevonden worden om de westerse beschavingen te bewaren?

De creatie en evolutie van de gehele zichtbare kosmos en van alle leven op Aarde is het product van een dialectisch samenspel van twee antagonistische, universele krachten :

• De hoogst conservatieve kracht van de Liefde: deze kracht streeft er steeds naar om de bestaande vormen, ritmes en evenwichtspunten te behouden precies zoals ze zijn. Deze kracht is het sterkst op de ‘dode’ manen en verre planeten;
• De kracht van Creatie: deze kracht werkt door destructie en verandering en is het sterkst in de vurige ovens van de zon en de verre sterren.

De kracht van de Liefde is altijd inwendig aanwezig geweest in de zichtbare wereld. Zij manifesteert zich door inertie, de gebalanceerde en zelfregulerende ecologie van de Aarde en de instincten van zelfbehoud en sexuele reproductie van alle levende soorten.

De kracht van Creatie door Vernietiging en Verandering daarentegen werkte oorspronkelijk voornamelijk van buitenaf, door de impact van meteorieten, zonnevlekken en de klimaatsveranderingen die daaruit voortvloeien. Op het moment dat onze voorouders het vuur leerden beheersen, kon diezelfde kracht in de menselijke geest binnendringen. Sindsdien heeft de kracht van Creatie de mens gebruikt als zijn werktuig om een steeds snellere destructie en creatie op Aarde te bewerkstelligen.

Voor het grootste deel van het gekende verleden zijn menselijke priesters en sjamanen er door het gebruik van de gepaste rituelen in geslaagd om de twee strijdende krachten in balans te houden, zodat de menselijke vrijheid van keuze gevrijwaard bleef. De Hindi en Taoïstische religies zijn hier tot op de dag van vandaag naar blijven streven. De oorlogszuchtige Kaukasische stammen zijn drieduizend jaar geleden echter gestart met het exclusief aanbidden van de kracht van de Vernietigende Creatie, om de meer gebalanceerde, rijkere agriculturele beschavingen te veroveren. 

Dit onevenwichtig aanbidden van slechts één van de twee strijdende krachten heeft grote gevolgen: de patriarchale, monotheïstische samenlevingen kenden een groter succes in oorlogsvoering en verovering; een versnelde wetenschappelijke kennis van het milieu en het universum in de laatste tweehonderd jaren; en steeds krachtigere, op vuur gebaseerde manipulatieve technologieën. De kost van dit alles is een vernietigende drang om te bezitten, een obsessieve creatiedrang naar massaproductie van industriële producten, en een agressie die nu zelfs dreigt de mensheid en alle leven op de Aarde te vernietigen.

Deze eeuwenoude strijd van de twee krachten nadert zijn hoogtepunt: 

• De kracht van Vernietigende creatie verheerlijkt de komende thermonucleare holocaust of de onomkeerbare klimaatsverandering als drijfveer om de mens te dwingen de melkweg te veroveren, zodat de weg vrij wordt gemaakt voor een frisse, vernieuwende creatie en evolutie op de Aarde;
• De kracht van de Liefde en het Behoud roept de mens op om de Aarde en zichzelf te redden van vernietiging - zelfs nu het vijf voor twaalf is, is het nog niet te laat - door terug te keren naar een genetisch overgeërfd gevoel van liefde, eerbied en vreugde in het leven.

In this workshop Fred Lamond explains to us the theory of The Divine Struggle. Is it helpful in understanding the current crises, and in proposing a positive programme for preserving Western civilisation?

The creation and evolution of the entire visible cosmos, and of life on Earth, is the product of the dialectical interplay of two antagonistic universal forces:

• the highly conservative force of Love, which seeks ever to preserve existing forms, rhythms and balances just as they are, and which is strongest on the „dead“ moons and distant planets;
• the force of Creation through Destruction and Change, which is strongest in the fiery furnaces of the sun and distant stars.

The force of Love has always been immanent in the visible world and manifests through inertia, Earth’s balanced and self-regulating ecology, and the instincts of self preservation and sexual reproduction of all living species.  But the force of Creation through Destruction and Change acted mainly from outside, through meteoric impact, sunspots and the resulting climate changes,  until it entered the human mind when our ancestors mastered fire.  Since then it has sought to use humanity as its agent of ever faster destruction and creation on Earth.

For most of the known past human priests and shamans managed by appropriate rituals to preserve human freedom of choice by keeping the two contending forces in balance within the human mind and society.  The Hindu and Taoist religions have done so to this day.  Three thousand years ago, however, the warlike Caucasion tribes started worshipping the force of Destructive Creation exclusively to conquer the more balanced and richer agricultural civilisations. 

The fruits of this unbalanced worship of one of two contending forces have been much greater success in warfare and conquest for the patriarchal monotheist societies and – within the last two hundred years – accelerating scientific knowledge of the environment and the universe, and ever more powerful fire-based manipulative technologies.  But the cost has been a destructive acquisitiveness, obsessional creativity of mass produced industrial artifacts and aggression, which is now threatening humanity and the whole of life on Earth with destruction.

The age long antagonism of the two forces nears a climax :

• the force of Destructive Creation glories in the approaching thermonuclear holocaust or irreversible climate change,  which will force humanity to conquer the Galaxy as it wipes the slate clean for a fresh creation and evolutionary process on Earth;
• while the force of Love and Conservation calls on humanity at this late hour to save itself and life on Earth from destruction by returning to a worship of its own genetically inherited feelings of love and joy in life as it is.

Francesca Ciancimino Howell was al van kindsbeen bezig met zowel ecologie als Aarde-magie. In 1987, ze was toen 30, ging ze bij de Gaia Group in New York, een Wicca traditie gewijd aan Aarde-healingmagie. In 1989, niet lang na de ramp met de Exxon Valdez, besloot Francesca om haar leven als actrice en lerares Engels achter zich te laten en haar roeping te volgen: ze werd milieuactiviste, en korte tijd nadien begon ze te werken voor Greenpeace.

Francesca studeerde aan de Georgetown University in Washington (USA) en aan de Cambridge University (UK). Ze was medewerker van het Departement Milieustudies van de Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado (USA).

Francesca heeft een glamoureuze internationale carrière achter de rug, met een atypische combinatie: van theater en TV-werk naar milieucampagnes tot de academische wereld. Als actrice was Francesca te zien in landen over de hele wereld, waaronder de USA, UK, Chili en Italië.

Francesca heeft haar werk rond Aarde healingmagie voorgesteld in de Verenigde Staten, de UK, Duitsland en Italië. Ze geeft op dit moment cursussen over Wicca in de Verenigde Staten en Italië. Ze schreef artikels over Paganisme voor het internationale blad Circle Network News en in 2002 werd haar profiel opgenomen in de Wicca anthologie “Wiccan Wisdomkeepers”, door Sally Griffyn, waar ze naast Janet Farrar, Gavin Bone, Starhawk, Doreen Valiente, en andere grote namen uit de Wicca wordt vernoemd. Haar eerste wetenschappelijke artikel over de terugkeer van Paganisme in Italië verschijnt dit najaar 2008 in The Pomegranate, het eerste wetenschappelijke tijdschrift rond Paganisme.

Als vrijwilligster en activiste was Francesca betrokken bij een heleboel andere activiteiten. Zo gaf ze cursussen en workshops en hielp onderzoek doen rond ecosystemen en lokale fauna; hielp ze campagne voeren om zowel lokale fauna als huis- en boerderijdieren te beschermen; hielp ze als pagan het Spiritual Support Team in een opvangtehuis voor mishandelde vrouwen in Colorado (USA); en nam ze zitting in d Raad voor Religieuze Opvoeding van de Unitarian-Universalist Church.

Francesca is momenteel bezig met een studie Godsdienstwetenschappen aan de Open University, Milton Keynes, UK.

“Making Magic with Gaia: Practices to heal ourselves and our planet” is Francesca’s eerste boek.

Francesca Ciancimino Howell became involved in both ecology and Earth magic as a child. In 1987, at the age of 30, she joined the Gaia Group in New York, a Wiccan tradition dedicated to Earth healing magic. In 1989 shortly after the Exxon Valdez broke up in Prince William Sound, Francesca decided to move out of her career as an actress and English teacher to make her avocation of environmental activism her vocation.  It was then that Francesca became professionally involved in the ecology movement. A short time later she began working for Greenpeace.

Francesca is a graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, DC, with an M.Phil degree from Cambridge University, England. She is a former adjunct faculty and staff member of the Environmental Studies Department at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.

Francesca has had a glamorous international career combining a number of vocations, from theatre and TV to environmental campaigning and academia. As an actress, Francesca has performed in countries around the world including the US, UK, Chile and Italy.

Francesca has presented her work on Earth healing magic in the US, UK, Germany and Italy, and currently teaches classes on Wicca in the US and Italy. She has authored articles on Paganism for the national publication, Circle Network News, and in 2002 she was profiled in a Wiccan anthology Wiccan Wisdomkeepers, by Sally Griffyn, where she appears alongside Janet Farrar, Gavin Bone, Starhawk, Doreen Valiente, and other leaders of Wicca.   Her first scholarly article on the resurgence of Paganism in Italy will appear this fall 2008 in The Pomegranate, the first academic journal of Paganism.
Other volunteer and activist roles of Francesca’s have included being a volunteer naturalist, leading classes, surveys and workshops on ecosystems and local wildlife; campaigning to protect local wildlife as well as domestic  and farm animals; counseling for the multi-faith Spiritual Support Team at a battered women’s shelter in Colorado; and participating in the Religious Education Council of the Unitarian-Universalist Church.

Francesca is currently a Ph.D candidate in Religious Studies at the Open University, Milton Keynes, UK.

Kevin Van Staeyen (1977) is gepassioneerd door muziek en emoties. Hij is violist maar speelt ook piano, Accordeon, ocarina, gitaar, mandoline en klarinet. Daarnaast is hij ook profesioneel zangpedagoog. Zijn voorliefde gaat uit naar Hongaarse Tziganne en Gypsy Swing (Vroege Jazz). Hij maakt sinds 1997 deel uit van Le Trio Perdu waarmee hij talloze optredens gaf in binnen en buitenland.

Kevin studeerde zang bij M. Van Hoof en E. Van Zand en volgde verschillende master classes. Hij trad op als zanger met David Davidse, Wanda Joosten, Rob Van Oudenhoven, Deborah Ostrega en vele anderen.

Kevin’s pedagogische benadering naar zang is tamelijk uniek.
Hij leert mensen zingen vanuit de spreekstem. Daardoor heb je minder last van vermoeidheiden en verminder je het risico op stemletsels. De spreekstem ligt ook dichter bij het hart en dat maakt zingen een nog intensere ervaring.

Momenteel werkt hij aan een klassieke Opera waarin hij de mogelijkheden van menselijke relaties verkent en een folk cd met als titel “Immigrants of another Era”. Waarmee hij de problematiek van volksverhuizing in een ander licht wil plaatsen …

He is also a professional singing pedagogue. He absolutely loves Hungarian Tziganne and Gypsy Swing (Early Jazz). Since 1997 he plays with Le Trio Perdu, a band with whom he did countless gigs in and outside Belgium.

Kevin studied the art of singing with M. Van Hoof and E. Van Zand and took part in several master classes. He performed as a singer with David Davidse, Wanda Joosten, Rob Van Oudenhoven, Deborah Ostrega and many others.

Kevin’s pedagogical approach to singing is relatively unique.
He learns people to sing tarting from their talking voice. This causes less fatique and less riscs for voice trauma. The talking voice is also nearer to the heart, which makes singing an even more intense experience.

At the moment Kevin works on a classic Opera in which he explores the possibilities of human relations and a folk cd titled ”Immigrants of another Era”. With this cd he tries to place the problem of immigration into another light …
